Empty Bowls Project of Paducah to benefit Community Kitchen

Terra Cottage announces the Empty Bowls Project for 2012 to benefit Paducah's Community Kitchen. The Empty Bowls is a grass roots volunteer project that culminates with a luncheon on Saturday, February 25 from noon to 4 pm at the Paducah McCracken County Convention Center. Those purchasing tickets to this event will receive a delicious meal from an area restaurant served in a beautiful handmade ceramic bowl, which is theirs to take home. Participating organizations include Artisan Kitchen, Outback Steakhouse, Pasta House, Texas Road House, Flamingo Road, Panera Bread, Tribeca Mexican Restaurant, Heavenly Cakes & CafĂ©, Shandie’s, Whalers Catch, The Star Restaurant & Bar, Etcetera Coffee House, Downtown Coffee Bar, and Pepsi. Proceeds benefit the Community Kitchen in Paducah.

Donations and volunteers are needed leading up to the event. Michael Terra of Terra Cottage is donating 1000 bowls and will be holding “glazing parties” every day from 10 to 6 in which individuals and groups can come and decorate the bowls. Other potters such as those from area schools are asked to donate bowls as well.

“Last year’s Empty Bowls Project resulted in 900 beautiful bowls and over $14,000 raised for our Community Kitchen”. Terra said. “This year, I really think we can go for a gift of $20,000 which means we need to come up with 1200 bowls in the next month…I know Paducah can do it!” The Community Kitchen is a fabulous organization that served 52,000 meals to those in need last year.

Tickets for the lunch are just $15 and include the meal and bowl to take home. For more information on tickets, how to help or to schedule a glazing party, contact Terra Cottage at 270-908-0090.
